What are good sites for free online legal advice?
THERE ARE NONE. Really there are no sites where a person can get FREE legal advice that they can rely on as accurate. Your best bet is to look for a local attorney who practices in the area of law that you need and see if that lawyer will give you a FREE consultation. Many lawyers will speak with a potential client for no charge, but please remember the product a lawyer sells is his/her knowledge, asking for free is like asking your local grocery store for free food.
If you are legally indigent (by IRS rules have no money) you MAY be able to apply at a local legal clinic or local bar association for free or low cost legal work.
As for websites, I recently have spoken with several clients who took the advice of an online site and now are totally screwed — nothing can be done to get their money back. Laws differ by state, county, city. You can find a great legal website for one area that is totally WRONG in any other part of the country. If you look at websites for your local attorneys, who practice the type of law that you need, you may be able to get some general info BUT nothing specific to your case.
